Introduction of F/W 2000 Menswear Fashion Trend

The minimalism and gray tones of F/W 99 are passed. As the new millennium is beginning, it is clear that the clothes are associated with the life style. Nature and technology in favor of comfort leads the new century to a fresh mood.

Themes

The stories for this new season are: Antarctic, a practical, functional and durable hi-tech look of city sportswear. Urban Botanica, less active urban casual wears. Cocktail Glamour, semi-formal tailoring menswear with more feminine and luxury look. Bohemian, rugged mood with highly individual and artisan approached style.

Fabrics

Two main ideas emerge here. The future as high tech, and the future as back-to-nature.

High tech is represented by waxed, non-woven, anti-bacterial, anti-stress, U.V protection, temperature control, heat-sealed, heat-welded, and Nano-fibers from the Antarctic group, and laminated surfaces, transparent or opaque sheers, and shot metallic effects, from the Cocktail Glamour theme. High tech is all about clothing that protects: from the sun, the cold and the wet. It is also about new finishings for leather and other natural fabrics.

Back-to-nature is represented by cashmere and wool mixed, natural suede and kidskin, dull-metallic look nylons for casual outwear, traditional fabrics recolored, blended wools, delicate mohair, melton, tweed and tonal jersey. Unfinished, irregular hemp looks, winter linen, non-woven felt types, hand-woven and rustic hand knitted looks in the mix.

Colors

All about the fall pallette. Warm rich tones of wood and leather, like: Iron, Charcoal, Oakleaf Brown, Tan, and Beige. Natural fall foliage tones of plants and earth: Mahogany, Burnished Gold, Dark Sand, Olive Bark and the icy tones of winter: Sky Blue, Anthracite, Flint, Optic White. This mix is capped off by a celebration of wine hues leading into the holiday season: Plum, Royal Raspberry, Red, Grape Hyacinth.

Silhouettes / Styles

The silhouettes were many, depending on the theme.

The main silhouette is a puffy boxy shape. This shape can be seen in the Antarctic styles: Sports styles with technical details. Detachable fur collar, body warmer with hood, pull-on fatigue pant. Zip-up sweater, quilted jackets and pants. Funnel-neck. Pant with elasticated hem and other boxy shapes are the major silhouettes in Antarctic.

The silhouette in Urban Botanica is slimmer but comfortable, with rounded edges, sloping shoulders. Styling detail creates new looks. Drawstring, molded rubber pad, body backpack, laser cut, military inspired belts and knitted inserts.

In Cocktail Glamour, Semi-formal suit is slim. Fluid shapes, un-constructed or semi-constructed jackets. Trousers are wider. Knit top presents a fluid silhouette, slightly feminine style.

Boxy or fitted, free form and fluid. Rustic hand knitted and patchworked tank tops, poncho and cape, irregular patchwork coat, rustic and hand-crafted jeanswear. Wide-cut flat-fronted pants. can be seen in Bohemian.
