Bluebird House

Dec. 10 1997
Material: 3/4” wood for the back post 3/8” plywood for the bird house Acrylic paint
Size: 5’ tall, 6” width top, 7” width bottom My design was based on the architect “Charles Rennie Mackintosh.” He liked to use straight lines and right angles in his furniture. His design was very clean, balanced and simple. He liked to make decorations in the wood, such as the see through effect. He also designed textiles. He was well known for his tulip and rose design.
As I was designing the bird house, I did some reading about the bluebird and how to build a bluebird house. I found that the “Peterson Oval Nest Box” is the most successful bluebird house for raising chicks. I really want to see if a bluebird will live in my box. So I decided to connect Patterson’s shape of box with the influence of Mackintosh to present my bluebird house.
