Everyone wants to know why I created this website. You can read the story below. Also visitors have asked about the vocal version of Sleep Walk recorded in 1959 On Canadian-American and Sung by Betsy Brye.
You can email me for a copy of that file.

EVERYONE
asks me how my Sleep Walk - Santo and Johnny fan site got started. Well, here's the story.....

I sat down at my computer on Christmas Eve of 1998 and decided to start a home page. It was going to be about my family and it was just about family for a few months. That is, until I decided to add a midi file of my favorite song; Sleep Walk by Santo and Johnny.

Soon there were visitors finding their way to my page because of the music that was being played and not because of my family history. Pretty soon I said 'hey, maybe I can do this! A tribute to my favorite song!' It wasn't long before the family history went to another website and Sleep Walk became my main focus.

My internet handle is Sleepwalk in Oklahoma. That pretty much tells the story. I'm past 40 - under 80 and not about to tell my age. But - I will tell you about my love for Sleep Walk.

I was in elementary school and in love with Elvis Presley, Pat Boone, Ricky Nelson and Paul Anka all at the same time. Then along came a guitar instrumental number called Sleep Walk and it won my heart and I've been a loyal fan ever since.

I don't know why Sleep Walk speaks to me as it does. I don't know why it has stayed with me all these years. I don't know what there is about it that makes it so special to me. But it does and it has and it is. More than any other song I've ever heard (besides Amazing Grace) Sleep Walk seems to speak to my heart and offers a sense of continuity, of peace in an unpeaceful world and a feeling of connecting to a simpler time and place.

I think what has amazed me more than anything is the huge number of people that have contacted me by email during these last two years who love the song as much as I do. Their comments are usually very kind and they all want to thank me not for the beauty or shockwave value of my website but for the stirring up of memories the sheer power of the music evokes and for the warm feelings the music elicits.

Today I'm not the young person I was when I first heard Sleep Walk on the radio. My hair has a little salt in the pepper and I'm no longer in love with Elvis or Ricky but I still have a special place in my heart for this very special song that two young brothers sat down and wrote and which has become a legend in its own time.

Since those early years both in my life and in the life of Sleep Walk many things have changed. I have had a wonderful spouse and family of my own to love and to love me in return and music continues to play a unique roll in my life. I have a zest for life and for those I love and for the music that means so much to me. And my favorite song will always be Sleep Walk.
